Heparin Titration. In detail

Infusion of heparin based on aPTT measurements for anticoagulation control remains one of the most medical care challenges. We developed a feedback control system that automatically sampled blood, measured aPTT and adjusted infusion rate. I developed the algorithm that optimized sampling intervals and dosing based on individual patient response. Despite promising clinical results, the untimely arrivals of hirudin and hirulog (new anti-coagulants) didn't allow for further funding. The drugs didn't make it and heparin administration is still major issue in clinic.
